The Mountain View School District will use an AMI day tomorrow, Thursday January 20, due to winter weather conditions. Again, no school tomorrow due to winter weather.

The Mountain View School District will not be in session tomorrow, January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 18.

Rural Special's home basketball game against Viola tonight is postponed. We will update with the new date as soon as possible.

The Mountain View School District Board of Education, at its regular meeting tonight, voted to make the wearing of masks optional in school buildings and at events on every campus. This will begin immediately.
However, Masks will continue to be mandatory on all school buses in the district.

Due to the Arkansas Department of Health and achi.net not updating Covid 19 data due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Mountain View School District will remain mask optional in all buildings across the district for the week of November 29 through December 3.

A big thank you from RSHS to Greg Vannater and Glenn Crymes (OEM) for wrapping up our Red Ribbon Week with a mock car accident. Thank you Fox Fire Dept, OEM, Prim 1st Responders, Vital Link, Stone County Sherrif’s Dept, AR Drug Task Force, Stone County Prevention Service, and Ozarka for helping our students understand the importance of avoiding drug use.





RS Picture Day is Monday. All sports & club pictures along with new student and make up pictures will be taken. Students need to bring everything needed for their complete uniform including shoes, undershirts, and any other such items. Peewee basketball players and dribblers are included.

Rural Special Fall Festival is tonight (Friday). Booths 5-6:30pm with drawings and Royalty to follow. Come join us for some great games: bucking bull, bounce house and much more. Full concession available.





Rural Special Pee Wee basketball begins tonight at 5:30pm with our first game at home. As per AAA guidelines, everyone inside the gym must wear a mask; this includes players sitting on the bench. $3 for adults; students enter free. GO REBELS

Rural Special High School is excited to offer the TRIO program to our 7-12th grade students. Please find the attached message from Pam Freer the assistant director of the program. Note, interested students must fill out an application to participate with the first date being Sept. 2nd. A flyer with the QR code and access to the application is included. Pam: We are seeking to primarily assist potential first generation/low income students on their journey toward post-secondary education. We will, as numbers allow, include students who do not meet those first gen/low income criteria. As allowed, we will include ACT Prep, Financial Aid Events, Campus Tours, Career Tours, LOCO Ropes adventures, and business tours.

Due to Covid-19, the drive thru format for Open House will be used again this fall in the high school parking lot. Rural Special is also offering a digital learning program for the 2021-22 school year. However, the program is for students, or family members of students, who either: 1.) have a documented medical condition resulting in a compromised immune system or: 2) students that have shown prior success in an online learning program. The digital learning program will be conducted by contracted entities outside of the Rural Special schools and no Rural Special or MVSD teachers will be involved in the digital learning program.
